Is any equipment provided by the league?

You must provide all of your own equipment (except for extra gear required for goalies) and lacrosse balls. Lacrosse helmets are expensive but required for boys in the Bantams, Juniors and Seniors programs.  Either a hockey or lacrosse helmet is required for boys in the developmental program.  Sartorius Sports in Avon offers lacrosse helmets for sale and for rental during the season. Boys in all programs are required to wear chest & shoulder pads and gloves.Eye protection, either goggles or a cage is required for girls in the Developmental, Bantams, Juniors and Seniors programs.  Lacrosse is a physical sport; we want our players to be prepared to compete, safely.  Uniforms will be provided to each player. Girls uniforms will be returned at the end of each season. Boys uniform jerseys will be returned at the end of the season. Boys shorts may be  purchased through the Program Fee and players will be allowed to keep shorts at the end of the season. It is the expectation of Canton Youth Lacrosse that CYL owned uniforms will be kept in good condition and not worn at any times other than during games or other activities that the coach requests.

When does the season start?

Lacrosse is a spring sport.  Practices will begin the first week of April and games will be scheduled towards the end of the month.  The season runs from April through June.

Are games played against in town teams or travel?

All lacrosse games will be scheduled against teams in other towns and will require travel.

Can I play up a level rather than with my grade level?

All players will initially be assigned to a program based on age and grade level.  It will be the determination of the coach, with parental consent to move a player up a level.
