Is any equipment provided by the league?

You must provide all of your own equipment (except for extra gear required for goalies) and lacrosse balls. Lacrosse helmets are expensive but required for boys in the Bantams, Juniors, Seniors and HS Club programs.  Either a hockey or lacrosse helmet is required for boys in the developmental program.  Sartorius Sports in Avon offers lacrosse helmets for sale and for rental during the season.  Eye protection, either goggles or a cage is required for girls in the Developmental, Bantams, Juniors and Seniors programs.  Lacrosse is a physical sport; we want our players to be prepared to compete, safely.  Uniforms will be provided to each player but will be returned to Canton Youth Lacrosse at the end of the season.

When does the season start?

Lacrosse is a spring sport.  Practices will begin the first week of April and games will be scheduled towards the end of the month.  The season runs from April through June.

Are games played against in town teams or travel?

All lacrosse games will be scheduled against teams in other towns and will require travel.

Can I play up a level rather than with my grade level?

All players will initially be assigned to a program based on age and grade level.  It will be the determination of the coach, with parental consent to move a player up a level.  HS Club will only be open to boys attending grades 9 – 12.

Can I help with the Canton Youth Lacrosse?

Help is needed for countless activities such as coaching, communicating game directions, fundraising, publicity, joining the Board and so on.

Do we play in tournaments?

The registration fee includes participation in tournaments, except developmental.

Note: Lacrosse tournaments are typically 1/2 or one day events with three to four 25 minute games.

What is CYL's Refund policy?

CYL will refund your Spring 2009 registration fee less a $25 cancellation fee, if you cancel before midnight on March 2, 2009.

How do parents keep abreast of what's going on?

Keep your eyes on the CYL website www.cantonlax.org  Also, when registering, make sure you provide your e-mail address to receive notices about the various league activities and from your child's team coach and manager.
